Amsterdam NY to St Johnsville NY

Windy today.   And now rainy.  Not a great day to be boating.   We had to wait for a while at our first lock today.   Governor Hocul (New Yorks governor) was coming through and apparently got priority.

That's ok because we are in no hurry.  Keeping off the sides and holding the ropes was a bit of a challenge in the locks today.  The gusts would pull us off the wall and test everything we had to keep us from pulling off the end of the rope.

One time Katie even lost the bow in the wind and I had to run up and use the bow thruster to push us back.  Fortunately the lock doors were already open so I could just power us out.

We will just sit this one out.   Thunder, lightning and big wind....  Glad to have found a marina to stay at here in St Johnsville.

Three locks, 28.6 miles today.  A marathon on the water.    I'm not feeling great (big cold or allergies).

Tomorrow they are going to manually lift the stuck bridge for two hours.  We are almost 100 miles away and the weather isn't cooperating so we will wait for the next passage.

They intend to lift the bridge manually again on Saturday    We plan to be there for that one...  Then we should be able to escape the New York canal system.   In the meantime we will do some nice little stops in Rome, Sylvan Beach,  Brewerton (at least that's our plan)..

This area of New York sure is beautiful.  And the people are more friendly country folk.  I'm frankly glad to be away from the coast ...
