Kirkfield Lift Lock to Orillia ON

Tonight we are in a marina.  With wifi.  Publishing this should be easy and.... I don't have much to publish.  We did two swing bridges and four locks today all downhill and all pretty quick.

Tight quarters and skinny water again.  Bumped the bottom once.  Probably a sunken log.  We were barely at idle so no issue...

Then we hit Lake Simcoe.   This is a big lake and it makes its own weather.  (No pics because it was a bit hairy and rainy.)

That pic was taken just as we entered behind an island so no waves yet.   20+ miles across.

It's much like crossing Bert Lake or Higgins Lake.... The wind draws across the lake from the southwest and makes for square waves that beat on the boat.

Anyway we are here... And now here on the Severn River the water looks alot like the water in Charlevoix or Traverse City.  You can be in 10+ feet of water and see the rocks and think you are going to hit them because they are so clear...

We made a grocery run to the Metro store and stocked up for the near future.  The temps dropped quickly and now we are in sweats and sweat shirts...

29 miles for the day.  As you can see we went fast for most of Lake Simcoe once we got out from behind the island.  It was quite uncomfortable on the lake so we went fast to minimize the time....
