Mackinac Island MI to Charlevoix MI

We are in Charlevoix!

We had a great evening on the Island going for a walk and sitting in chairs in the lawn at Mission Point watching boats.

We were woken up by the Arnold Ferry delivering the Gordon Food Service truck to the island...   Yes, they deliver the full truck and then unload it on the dock, then bring the truck back to the mainland.

A 7am departure from Mackinac Island put us under the bridge right about 7:30am.

A fairly decent four hours on plane (sometimes more lumpy than not) and we entered Charlevoix and Round Lake.

We had a seven minute wait for the drawbridge.

 I always so enjoy visiting.

It doesn't suck at all...

The water is really emerald green here..

So pretty.  ... And I really don't like the color green ...

This is truly one of my happy places...
We did lunch in town and some shopping and then I came back to the boat to take out the dinghy.  I love Lake Charlevoix and we won't get time to travel up and down it this trip.  Long days to get home while we have a weather window...

Finally flushed some fresh water through the motor on the dinghy.  It's only been in salt water since November....

Look at that water....
Sixty one miles today (not counting dinghy ride...). All at high speed except a few moments slowed down before the bridge...
The map looks like we simply drove in a big open lake today and it seems silly to do that big right angle....   Silly until you realize the areas between Beaver Island and the mainland are all only a couple of feet deep, except Grays Reef, a well marked deep water channel with  lighthouses and all...

One thing I've become really accustomed to is following the navigation aids.  They are put where they are for a reason....

Tomorrow we plan to run to Ludington.  We anticipate we will be there multiple days due to weather....  I don't want to finish our loop making my wife sick or beating ourselves to death in big waves.   We will wait for an offshore or lighter breeze...
