Dover TN to Beech Creek TN. All on the Tennessee River.

Today we left our spectacular anchorage in Dover Tennessee area.  It was 29° this morning and there was ice on the bow and top of the boat.  Not a lot of ice, but ice.  We did not sign up for ice.  Happy Halloween.
Fortunately the fog quickly burned off and the weather warmed up and I ended up having to go in short sleeves and open the window to let some breeze through.  I even turned on the dash fan keep some air moving over me because it was so hot.  Suffering for the sake of migration you know...
The areas built by the Tennessee Valley authority are fascinating.  As you're driving across the lake you see on the charts roads on the bottom bridges on the bottom all kinds of towns on the bottom.  They literally flooded entire towns and moved them to higher ground in order to build these dams and generate electricity.
Every once in a while there's a bridge across the water.  They spend some serious money on bridges.    Or I should say we the taxpayer spend serious money on bridges, just not where we live.
of course Tennessee has some serious money of its own.  This is no longer poor rural hillbilly country.
and boy is it beautiful...
we drove like a hundred miles today and it was all gorgeous. One could spend an entire summer here and never see all of the anchorages and inlets.
and everyone on the river doesn't live in a beautiful palace of a house...
When an area is prone to flooding sometimes you build a pole building without walls and park a trailer under it.    The roof keeps the sun off and makes it comfortable.  But you could pull the trailer out when the water goes up.
and then some of the houses are built on stilts but they are enclosed so they look like they have a lower level.

Another beautiful day on the river.  It took us a while to figure out how to get our anchor to hold tonight.  It seems that Tennessee is half rock and anchors don't dig into rocks...

Until tomorrow...
