Finally Off The Boat (a blog by Katie)
We celebrated Thanksgiving with our friends Dan and Robin who we have been traveling with. The day was spent on our boat eating, playing games, and watching the Lions lose.
It rained all day Friday so we ran errands. It's sad when you're excited to go to the grocery store just to get off the boat and move.
Shopping with Dan is an experience because he seems to have a built in radar for junk food and you never know what will appear in the cart. We also had to get a new battery for the boat (Dan actually discovered there's two batteries he needed to replace so he went back to the battery store Saturday morning to get a 2nd one).
Wednesday night Dan bought a sensor for his rudder or something. On Friday he decided to attach it to the boat. He spent all day trying to figure out how to get the wire from the back of the boat up to the front of the boat. I had to jiggle the wire finder or listen to him jiggle it to try to figure out how to get the wire through to where he needed it to be. I was starting to hear that clanging noise even when I wasn't listening. He finally gave up and decided to try another day.
Saturday we went to Tarpon Springs with Dan and Robin. It's a small town on the water north of Clearwater. It's the "Sponge Capital" of the world.
We shopped (I got some Christmas presents) and had lunch. It's a big Greek community so we ate at a Greek restaurant. We also walked through the train depot museum.
After we got back to the boat Dan was able to get the wire connected. No more clanging for now.
Tomorrow is supposed to rain again so it will probably be another day on the boat reading and watching TV.
(This blog is in loving memory ...oh, I mean dedicated to Chad...)
