Orange Beach AL to Destin FL!

We are in Florida!   We didn't really travel south at all today ...  Mostly East.

As we mentioned Saturday we were staying two nights in Orange Beach.   That let some of us get supplies, do laundry, get a bike ride in, see the beach etc.

Orange Beach had a great sunrise on Sunday.   I didn't see it.  Credit to the looper who took the picture (not me) that I screen shot and included below.
I had to go renew a prescription so I rode my bike the three miles each way to do so.   We have e-bikes so it really isn't a stretch to go for a decent bike ride.   Ive detuned mine alot so I can actually pedal some...

After a stop at CVS I took a bike ride to the beach and ON the beach.  Fat tire bikes are awesome for varied terrain including sand.
it wasnt raining on Sunday but it was overcast all day and only about 70.   That said I see it was 38 at home... So we'll take 70.

On the way in and out of our marina right at the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico sits this house.
irs owned by Brett Favre's uncle.  He owns the biggest marina resort in the area (the wharf) as well as a big construction company in Louisiana.

Just past his place is the pass in and out of the Gulf.

After leaving Orange Beach we cruised the Intra Coastal waterway east all day.  Sometimes it's narrow and sometimes it opens into big bays with big waves.  (Small craft advisory today).

Other times the dolphins came by to surf our wake!

Credit to our friend Robin from Horizon Bound for getting photos of dolphins.  I was driving and they aren't around long...
They ARE really cool though.
Tonight we are anchored in Joe's bayou in suburbs of Destin FL.   Tonight is going to have 30knot wind and rain again.... So we are anchored and sitting inside (with fish jumping all around us).

As the name implies Joe's bayou is a low rent district.   High homeless rates.  See below.
View from front of my boat...
View from the back of the boat...
ok.  Not so homeless.  The latter house is owned by former CEO of i2 technologies a supply chain software company in Dallas.   (I had to find out, don't ask me how)

Lots of jets are flying overhead here.  Several have cruised over while I've been typing but I cant really get good shots.  Skies are very grey and it's raining.

Tomorrow we continue to head East to shorten the crossing of the Gulf of Mexico down to something we can do in a single overnight.   Then we will wait for a good weather window.  Might be several days (or more) based on weather lately.
