Ft Myers to Marco Island
It was a beautiful morning to wake up on the bay in Ft Myers. I slept until the batteries died (apparently not enough capacity or there are more batteries needing replacing).
I then started the generator and slept til sunrise.... When we got ready to go, wiped down the isenglass (it gets foggy and wet) and started off into the ocean. No more Intracoastal Waterway ..
Slowly Marco came into sight... (We could always see shore and never got more than 40ft of water... The ocean is shallow down here).
As things got closer the waves got bigger. Not horrible but enough to get Katie a little seasick. Beam seas (waves from the side) are the worst as they rock you...
Marco is Uber developed. Houses and condos on almost every square inch. Waterways anyone? I think every single house is on a channel.
We grilled out on our Weber grill after returning to the boat at anchor. Another day that was warmer than the forecast .. right about 70, almost perfect.
Here's the view out the left side of our boat.
and here's the view out back. Not too shabby. It must suck to live here year round... All that sunburn and salt and sand everywhere. ;)
We have finished January. It has been a good January. We are missing home (family), but we are seeing friends pretty regularly and enjoying not having to plow....
